Shopping, shopping, shopping!
Here we are again! Christmas has just arrived at “El corte Inglés” once more! And we are ready to spend our money on things we don’t really need.
Presents, objects,clothes and perfumes, bags and jewellery, electronic devices, new mobiles and computers... We need them!
But when you grow older you realize that, sometimes, things and objects can become a real burden... At the moment I’m in the process of getting rid of things I don’t really use... Too many CDs, too many books, too many clothes...
I love Japanese classical home decoration... I need emptiness... I need a place with no images, a white wall... an empty space in my living room, to dance, to rest, to get some refreshing air for my soul...
Xmas is here again! What can we do?

This is my inspirational quote at this stage of my life.
When I was a teenager I wanted to train my body (sports, martials arts and so on). I loved Aikido and Taichi (I learnt to be really fast and flexible with the former, and to be calm and relaxed when facing a problem with the latter )
In my youth years I started training my emotions. Difficult task! We are full of contradictions: love and hate, joy and fear, activity and laziness. Sometimes it seems that the opposite forces can make your boat sink... I gave up martial arts and I started dancing...to express my emotions... we are like waves... going up and down, up and down restlessly...
And then it came a time when I started training my mind. And I was lucky to see a beautiful lighthouse in the distance and ... I followed the light...
I am a really curious person and I want to understand things at a deeper level, life and death, purpose of life, and so on...
And one day I realized I couldn’t understand everthing using just my mind.

I think that i have a good personality, I'm very practical,patient,persistent,strong-hearted and above all reliable. In the negative side,I can be a bit lazy,inflexible,possesive and traditional.
I have a lot of dreams but it's necessary to be realistic , I would like to be a teacher and work in an important school.
In ten years time I will be working in an important school in Barcelona,teaching children from six to ten. I will live in a flat near the school with my husband and my children.
I will work from Monday to Friday and I will finish my working day at five o'clock, I will get paid a lot of money because I will do my job very well.
In addition,I have the right qualities for this job: patience,I like teaching children,confidence in what I teach and work in a job that I like,not only to make money.
So yes,I will work long enough to have a good life and not to have to depend on anyone.

My father's dad was a master builder ans my father worked as a bricklayer with him. But when my grandfather died, my father began working in the sports center of Calvià.
I think I am a person with great energy, I like to try new things. I'm brave, intelligent, and self confident. Normally I do not often get angry with any body, but when I do, it takes a long time to reconcile. I do not like lying, I always say what I feel. I'm impatient and a bit moody.
I am a person with initiative, I like working in groups, but I am also good acting alone. I like finishing what I start, and do it well. I always do my best to win in a competition, I love challenges, but I can also accept defeat.
I would like to study at the university. I'm still not sure what I want to study, but have been thinking about studying psychology, advertising, business, fashion and design... I still don't know!
I love to work in a fashion magazine, and to become the director! As you can see I am really ambitious!
In ten years I imagine myself living in a house farther from the city, between the city ans the mountains. I will live with my boyfriend. I won't have children, I don't like them. Each day I will go to work with my car or my motobike, I love motorbikes. I will work in a fashion magazine, one that I lead.
HEALTH (Tami Moragues)
I try to play sports every day to feel well with myself. In addition, while you are practising a sport you forget your problems and allow your mind to rest for a time. It is a very good sensation. But it is not necessary to do sport only to be thinner or to have a perfect body, also we have to play sports to avoid diseases. There are many young people who don't exercise, they prefer watching television, playing with their playstation or chat on line with their friends.
Another important area ir that of the nourishment. We have to feed ourselves correctly to be healthy and strong. People, especially teenegers, eat lots of junk food, food that don't have vitamins and make our bogy get fat. I know that many people don't like vegetables, I don't like them, but I eat them because they are good for my body. Fruit is also very important and it is also very healthy.
Besides practising exercise and eating healthy, you should avoid habits like smoking or drinkig too much. The truth is that they are totally unnecessary things for us, in the end, they only cause diseases.

I am a very energetic boy, but sometimes I'm too impulsive, impatient and agressive; I try to control my self. Then, I also have good things, patience with people, so I think that I'm a good boy and I always try to do the best things for the people who deserve it.
My dream is to love a wonderful woman, and have a lot of children with her, be happy and healthy. In the future I want to have a normal job, and would like to live in Argentina, so I can go to see all the matches of Racing de Avellaneda.
If I have all things that I have mentioned, I will be happy, and my dreams will be fulfilled!

My grandfather used to work as a miner a long time ago, and I am not really intested in working as a miner when I'm older because it doesn't go with me and actually there aren't many miners now.
On the other side my grandmother has never had a job because she had to take care of her children because she had 8 kids.
My mother came here from England when se was just 18 years old and here she met my father who had a jewellery shop. Since they met my mother has been working in the shop,and obviously I admire and love her but I would really like to do a career instead.
Talking about myself I think I am a positive and happy person.On my bright side, I should say that i think I am a good friend to my friends because I worry about them and I always try to be nice to them.
But as a normal person I have a dark side too,I know I am quite moody sometimes especially when I'm tired. Another thing is that I always want to be right. And finally another thing,that doesn't affect other people but me is that I push myself too far,I always like to have everything organized and if things don't turn up as I wanted ,I get really stressed.
In the future i would like to be an English teacher or work as a journalist.I have really thought about this and i think i got to the decision that i prefer being an english teacher. In the future,I would like to be an english teacher in a college because i am not really a children's fan!
I don't know where i'll be in 10 years time,if i'll work in Spain, here in Mallorca or maybe in another country. I don't really know ,I just want to be in a good place,with my life all sorted out and be happy.

I think I have healthy habits.
Health is very important for people. If you aren't healthy, you could have diseases and things like that. I think I'm a healthy man. In my free time I play football with my team, Playas de Calvia {Magalluf}, I eat vegetables, fruit, fish, etc.
I don't usually drink alcohol, the only problems I have is that I like smoking and I eat a lot of sweets. For me, to be a healthy person, you have to do some sports.
Football is my favourite, but I watch tennis and rugby inTV channels too.
Before training I got to the gym, and one day, a man said to me - "You have to eat rice and chicken" but I didn't listen to him and I usually eat meat, pasta, piza, salads... I never eat fast/food {McDonalds, KFC, Burger King,...} I prefer no to eat in those places, because in my opinion they are not healthy . So I don't got to these restaurants and I don't drink alcohol, I only smoke. I know that smoking is not good for me, but I can't give it up!

I think health is very important and people underestimate the importance of good health. Our society seem to give more importance to wealth, but wealth is not much good to anyone if they don't have good health and people don't realize what is feeling well until they fell bad.
How to be healthy? there are number of factors.
1.DIET:We have to eat well. That means to have a varied diet and try to include a little bit of everything each day.These are the things that we need:
-Meat,fish,chicken or eggs for our daily protein
-Bread,rice,pasta for carbs and enery
-Vegetables and frut for vitamins
-Milk and cheese for calcium
Nowadays there is a lot of temptation to eat the wrong type of food for example: fast-food,chocolate, biscuits, cakes...If you overindulge in these things they can lead you to obesity and other internal problems. Obviously, we don't need to get obsessed with our diet because this can cause other problems such as anorexia and bulimia.
2.EXERCISE: Another factor that helps you being healthy and fit is to do some exercise, probably 30 min a day would be enough to make your heart beat a little faster.
3.WATER: It's important to drink a lot of water.You should drink 2 litres of water a day to keep kidneys healthy.
In my opinion I consider myself a healthy person even though I don't do all the things I have mentioned.
4.POSITIVITY. And last but not least, try to be a positive person instead of a negative one because it also makes a big difference.So just be happy ad you will be healthy!

For me the main aspects to take into account for a healthy life are:a healthy diet, daily exercise and general welfare.
Daily exercise doesn't mean going to the gym every day and make the maximum exercise during a short period of time and then don't attend anymore. Part of the daily exercise is just going for a walk with the dog, sweep the garden or the daily chores.
But this isn't enough. It's also necessary to keep fit doing some sport in the evening or just jogging a bir everyday.
An healthy diet is also very important to have an healthy life. A healthy diet means a balanced diet and this includes to all type of food but not in excess.

Hello! My name is Marina, I'm eighteen years old. I was born in Palma of Mallorca and at the moment I live in Calvià (Portals)
I like football, music(pop, rock etc...)My favourite singer is Chenoa and my favourite football team es R.C.D. Mallorca and I like dogs. I also think that yoga is the best way to relax.
I think health is very important in my life because I had four heart operations and consequently health is the most important thing in my life.
I really like fruit and vegetables when I was younger I used to swim.
I also like watching football on TV but I don't do any sport because of the problems I have with my heart.
I have a healthy diet and I eat lots of pasta and eggs, I like pizza but I eat fruit and vegetables too. My favourite fruit is the orange!

Health for me is one of the most important things in life, because if aren't healthy your life can be miserable. I need health in my life to continue doing sport. To be healthy you need to do some sport, eat good food and some other important things, but the first is to be happy with your body.
I play football, but this isn't the only sport that I like, my second favourite sport is tennis, because when I was little I used to play it. I love watching tennis matches because they're so different from football!
I think I follow a healthy diet because in my family these things are taken very seriously. We usually eat fish, meat, vegetables, eggs and other important foods. Maybe I eat in fast-food restaurants once in a month because I don't like tehm much. I don't drink alcohol and don't smoke I think smoking is really bad for our health.

In my opinion I am an extroverted person but depending on the ocasion I am a bit shy. I think I am very funny with my friends but serious when I have to be serious. I am sometimes too responsible, and it can become a defect. I can be untidy but clean. I am a good listener an I like to help people. I consider myself insecure but I try not to show it. I always need to have the situation "under control ".
Next year I would like to study journalism and criminology at any universitiy in Madrid or maybe in Barcelona. In the future I would like to work in a very important company investigating crimes or something similar or if I can't do that, I would do something as international journalism. I would travel around the world and I would help people in the developing countries.

My mother is a lawyer and she works everyday.In my opinion it is a very complicated work. She had to study hard to be a professional.
My grandfather was a lawyer too, but unfortunately he died las year. My mother has five sisters and four of them are lawyers too.
My father is a hotel manager . He likes his job but he has to spend 3 days of a week in Madrid because the company is there.
For this reason my sister, my mother and I dont like his job because we never see him. Because of my father' s job we lived in Madrid 10 years ago and then we moved to Mallorca.
My grandfathe also worked in a big company and my two granmathers was housewives .They used to work at home.
Now, I'm going to write about myself. I think I am friendly, honest and healthy bacause I like doing sports.
But sometimes I can be sturborn and moody.
I enjoy playing football everyday and I would like to play football in the future.
I have played it since I was five. I would like to became a football player.
I also want to study journalism in Valencia or Madrid.
One day I would like to make my own football TV program!

I don't watch my weight but I have to lose weight .I followed a diet 2 years ago. I lost weight and appetite.This isn't good because we need to eat but with healthy food .
Lots of people do not usually eat nutritius food because they like fast food.And fast food is bad for us because this food has lots of choresterol , sugar...and we can gain weight.
So we have to do sports and avoid smoking.
Young people don't usually watch their weight and when they are older they have a poor health .Then they start having a balanced diet.
So we should have a good nutritious diet since we are little.
In conclusion,you should eat healthy food if you want to have a good life.

First of all, my grandparents are retired but before they used to work at a petrol station. This is a family business but I do not want to work there because I want to be independent.
First of all I want to finish 2nd Batxillerat and then start a "cicle formatiu" in electricity. I want a good job as an electrician to make money and to buy a house.
I would also like to work as a firefighter because firefighters have many days off. Firefightrs are brave people who put out fires and rescue people and animals. Firefighters work one day and thena rest three days and their salary is two thousand euros.
I think I am optimist, open minded, sincere, frank, versatile and brave but I can also be tactless, careless, and restless. This is the dark side of my personality.
To sum up, I hope to have lots of money, a healthy life, a girlfriend who loves me and a good retirement plan.

"Coca d'auberginis" every Saturday
I invented "Coca d'auberginis" last year and since then , Ana, my daughter, wants me to prepare it every Saturday for lunch.
It is an adaptation of a very sophisticated Greek recipe, which was much more complicated.
I hope you like it! Enjoy your meal! Bon profit!
IngredientsA medium aubergine (egg plant in US)
A big leek (or two small ones)
15o gr. of walnuts
Shortbread pastry (Masa quebrada from Mercadona)
Salt, cumin, pepper and nutmeg
Chop the leeks and the aubergines finely (in tiny dice) and fry them in a frying pan for 5-10 minutes. They are seasoned with salt, nutmeg, pepper and lots of cumin. Chop the walnuts finely with a knife (media luna), take the frying pan off the heat and add the walnuts to the leeks+aubergines. Stir and mix.
Switch on the oven and bake the pastry for 5-10 minutes. When it is half done take it out from the oven and cover it with the ingredients you have just cooked. Bake it again for 5-10 minutes and enjoy your meal!
(I think the secret of this "coca" is the cumin, which gives its mediterranean flavour and the walnuts, which give some "crunchiness" to the coca...)

Nowadays, obesity is a big problem in today´s society due to the capitalism and to the new fast food industries .This produces an unhealthy life in a big part of the world, but also, there are some steps to consider refering to a healthy life.
I am going to write about what you need to have a healthy life:
From my point of view, sports are important because they help you to have a completed life and , of course, they are good for your body and for your mind too.
Another important aspect to considerer is the type of diet that we follow, and the different nutrients that are good for our body, and, on the other hand the nutrients that produce illness or that help you to keep a balance. It´s clear that the mediterranean diet is the best because it contains a variety of food nutrients and also tastes very good.
I don´t want to write about drinking or smoking ( or cosuming another type of drugs ), but it´s clear that everyone knows about the existence of drugs .I only want to say that with a balance you can enjoy your free time.
Finally to sum up, good nutrition , sports and spare time are important to be a healthy person.

I have always liked sour tastes, I love vinegar, and I think this has a connection with the liver. Chinese medicine says that you can become ill due to lack of energy or due to an excess of energy...
If you don't have enough energy in one of the five organs, than you are attracted to the corresponding taste... I love vinegar because I think I need more energy for my liver...
There is a wonderful film by Zhang Yimou called "Hero" I think it is based on the five elements theory ( five seasons, five colours, five organs and so on...) I love the film!

To bebin with, I'm going to write about the importance of health in my life; it is indispensable to live and to be happy. It depends on several things: have a balanced diet ( the necessary vitamins and proteins that the body needs), and play a sport or exercise at least three days a week.
I don't do any sport, but in the evening, sometimes, I go running with my mother or I go to the gym when I have free time.I like to play sports instead of watching them on television.
Normally I have four meals a day.For breakfast I have some toasts and a glass of milk; for lunch any type of pasta,fish or meat; in the evening I have some fruit and some cookies and for dinner something light, as a yoghurt or a salad.
If I have to go a restaurant, I don't choose a fast food restaurant , but when I go out with my friends for a meal we always go to fast food restaurants because they're cheaper an the food isn't bad.
I think that vegetarian people don't have a healthy diet because most of them don't eat anything which has to do with animals, as meats or eggs, and in my opinion this food is necessary for us, and if we don't eat proteins we could have some illnesses.

I’ve got a lot of hobbies as reading, dancing or meeting friends but what I like the most is going to drink a hot chocolate in a rainy day. I think I am on the age of doing that whenever I want because in a few years I will have to control strictly what eat.
From my point if view, health is one of the most important things in the life of a person. I think that healthy eating and daily exercise are very important to keep fit and to have a good health.
I believe that following a varied diet is necessary because according to the experts on nourishment every type of food from the nourishment pyramid brings something different to our organism. For example: bread and pasta are carbohydrates which help us to be more energetic, fruit and vegetables have vitamins and fibre which helps us to digest better the food and so on.
In my opinion doing exercise every day is necessary too to have good health. Doing a sport frequently or running half an hour every day is a good way of keeping fit. But it exists the other face of the coin, when I say that I am referring to that people who are obsessed with practising sport. I think that is as unhealthy doing too much sport as not doing it at all.
In conclusion, for me, health is a mix of different of things: daily exercise, healthy eating, getting enough sleep, positive thinking, etc.
We only have one body and it is for all our life so we must take care of it.

This year i won two competitions of photography(In March and in May),the first was in Ajuntament de Calvià (Objetiu dona) and the second was in IES Llompart School.

THE TIMES THEY ARE THE A-CHANGIN,Arthur Leblanc(IES Llompart)I think that health and happiness are the most important things in this world. Now, I don't play any sport but five years ago I used to do archery. When I was a child I used to swim every week until I was ten years old. After this, my father forced me to learn how to swim every summer but I didn't like it!I gave up swimming and began to play with my playstation.The only sport that I like to watch on T.V is syncronized swimming.
I don't like diets but at home we usually eat mediterranean food and a lot of rice(my father is from Valencia),I love pasta(raviolis,pizza...) and I'm addicted to strong chocolate.I also like fast food but I prefer good restaurants. I only eat in fast food restaurants twice a month.
I don't usually drink alcohol but sometimes I have Tequila or Absinthe shots ...I don't like smoking!
In my opinion,people should take care of themselves specially at weekends.

First of all I have to say that health is the most important thing in my life.The combination of doing sports and have a good diet is very important to be healthy.In my opinion I think I am a healthy person. I eat well even though I don't practise any sport.I'm a bit lazy.I admit it.
For breakfast I usualy have milk and toasts with butter and jam. For lunch something like fish with salad , potatoes, vegetables, beans. I like this kind of food. For dinner pasta,salad or just nothing.It depends.
In my house there are two types of food. When I am with my mum there is a lot of normal food like pasta,chiken,soup and fish but when I'm with my dad there is too much vegetarian food. He loves tofu, mushrooms,beans,carrots. He buys all food at " biological supermarkets" I don't know how to explain it. He is completely vegeterian and he tries to make me vegetarian too. But the point is that I can't. I don't really each much meat , just chicken! but that doesn't mean I am vegetarian.
If I got to parties I drink much alcohol, just a couple of drinks. I drink but I never come to the point of being drunk.Of course I don't smoke.I hate the smell of tobacco. It's horrible.That's all what I think.

I have been a vegetarian for almost 4 years. I started for ethical reasons. I feel that it's something that makes me feel better with myself so, why do I have to eat meat and feel bad if there are so many options for eating?
Some people think that we don't have many options when choosing food. If you ask me, sometimes I think the same. I dont' like eating out and seeing there are only two vegetarian dishes on the menu.
But I love eating at home, in my opinion it's healthy to eat with your family.

In my opinion, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and my favourite one. On school days I usually eat a toast with cheese or jam with a glass of fruit juice. But at weekends I usually eat a youghurt or milk, fruit (usually kiwi or banana),and if I'm lucky "crepes with nutella".
At eleven o'clock I can have a vegetable baguette, a piece of fruit or sometimes, nothing.
For lunch I usually have lentils, pasta,hamburgers, soup, rice, etc.
At seven o'clock some fruit and a yoghurt and sometimes a chocolate piece.
And finally for dinner I like to eat a good salad.
In conclusion, I think everyone can choose what to eat, but always respecting nature.

In my opinion the combination of sleep, sport and healthy food is just the perfect and healthy combination!

Intructions for your first writing
Please, follow the instructions carefully,
1. Title: Health (write your name in brackets)
2. Label: Opinion essay
3. Use paragraphs in your writing.
First paragraph: Introduce yourself: name, birthday, place you were born+ photo
Second paragraph: Is health important in your life? What do you do ir order to be a healthy person? Do you play any sport? What do you do to keep fit?Write about a sport you play or about a sport you like watching (but don't play)
Third paragraph: do you have a healthy diet? What do you usually eat? Write about your food preferences. How often do you eat in fast food restaurants? What about drinking? Do you usually drink alcohol at weekends? do you smoke? give your opinion about drinking and smoking .
Optional (1): Share a photo, a video, a song, a poem, (or a recipe) related to sport and/or food.
Optional (2) : Imagine you were a doctor: What type of advice would you give to a person with a problem of overweight? and to a really thin person suffering from anorexia?

The purpose of this blog is to share our writings, essays and compositions about the different topics that we are going to study in this school year 2009-2010.

You can use all the colors of the rainbow to write in this blog, EXCEPT purple (or violet), because this is the color I am going to use.
